God of War é a sequência de God of War III, bem como uma continuação da cronologia canônica da série God of War. Diferentemente dos jogos anteriores, este se concentra na mitologia nórdica e acompanha um Kratos mais velho e experiente e seu filho Atreus nos anos que se passaram desde o terceiro jogo. É nesse mundo hostil e implacável que ele precisa lutar para sobreviver… e ensinar seu filho a fazer o mesmo.
