『ウィッチャー』（2007年）の続編となるこの三人称視点のダークファンタジー・ウェスタンRPGは、 複数のエンディングと分岐するストーリー展開を特徴とし、ウィッチャーであるリヴィアのゲラルトの旅路を描いている。彼は王殺しの冤罪を着せられた後、自身の潔白を証明し、真犯人を見つけ出すべく旅に出る。舞台は、帝国主義的なニルフガード帝国と四王国との間で戦争の瀬戸際にあり、政治的混乱が渦巻く時代である。
