『Control』は、超常現象を研究する米国政府の極秘機関「連邦管理局（Federal Bureau of Control）」を舞台とした、サードパーソン視点のアクションアドベンチャーゲームです。 プレイヤーはジェシー・フェイデンを操作し、同局の本部である「オールドエスト・ハウス」に到着すると、そこが「ヒス」と呼ばれる敵対勢力に侵攻されていることに気づきます。ゲームプレイでは、超自然的な能力と変形可能な銃器を組み合わせ、環境はプレイヤーの行動に反応し、破壊することも可能です。
